THE FATHER OF HUMANELY RAISED HENS
We know we take great care of our hens, and it shows in the quality of our eggs. But don’t take our word for it. Our certifications are your assurance that we practice what we preach.
KOSHER CERTIFIED
- Eggs are Pareve, a classification of food that certifies it contains neither dairy nor meat ingredients and that the eggs comply with the Jewish Dietary Laws
- Our Fresh Eggs are Certified Kosher by Orthodox Union, while our Liquid Eggs are Certified Kosher by Kehilla Kosher
CERTIFIED HUMANE®
- Hens must have unlimited access to nutritious feed and water throughout the day
- Minimum of 1.5 square feet per hen is allocated to allow normal behavior (sufficient freedom of movement to be able to stand normally, turn around and stretch their wings)
- Hens must be able to move freely throughout the building/hen house
- No animal by-products in feed
- No growth hormones or antibiotics
- A minimum of 6 hours outside access per day
- Hens must have perches and litter for dust bathing
- Ammonia levels at a maximum of 10ppm, which means the scent is imperceptible
CERTIFIED ORGANIC®
- Organic and vegetarian feed that is free from pesticides, antibiotics, steroids and animal by-products
- Have year-round access to the outdoors, shade, shelter, clean water and direct sunlight.
- A minimum of 30% of food through pastured grazing
- 100% USDA Certified Organic®
- Not kept in cages and are free to roam within the barn and have access to the outdoors
- Hens are fed locally grown grains
- Roughage provided by pasture grass, not plastic pellets
- Hens are given necessary vaccines to prevent illness and are given treatment for any illness that occurs
